Butyl cellosolve solvent
2-Butoxyethanol is an organic solvent with the formula BuOC2H4OH (Bu = CH3CH2CH2CH2). It is a colorless liquid with a sweet, ether-like odour. It is a butyl ether of ethylene glycol. It is a relatively nonvolatile, inexpensive solvent with modest surfactant properties.
Tetrahydrofuran
Tetrahydrofuran (THF) is an organic compound with the formula (CH2)4O. It is a colorless, water-miscible organic liquid with low viscosity at standard temperature and pressure. This heterocyclic compound has the chemical formula (CH2)4O. As one of the most polar ethers with a wide liquid range, it is a useful solvent. Its main use, however, is as a precursor to polymers. THF has an odor similar to its chemical cousin, diethyl ether, but is a much less potent anesthetic than diethyl ether.Activated carbon
Automotive emissions are a major contributor to urban air polution. To limit the emission of
evaporated gasoline vapor, activated carbon
canisters are used, which adsorbs the fuel vapours
that escape from the tank when vehicle is parked with
a hot engine after use. In a veverse direction, fresh
air flows through activated carbon bed to desorbs the
vapours. Heavily loaded with hydrocarbons, this air
flow is then recycled into the engine's air injection
system, and activated carbon is regenerated.
Epichlorohydrin
Epichlorohydrin (abbreviated ECH) is an organochlorine compound and an epoxide. This is a colorless liquid with a pungent, garlic-like odor, moderately soluble in water, but miscible with most polar organic solvents.[2] Epichlorohydrin is a highly reactive compound and is used in the production of glycerol, plastics, epoxy glues and resins, and elastomers. In contact with water, epichlorohydrin hydrolyzes to 3-MCPD, a carcinogen found in food.
